    Wow - what stunning colours and what a difference Neat Image makes to noise in Barries 30 second treatment.
    No doubt that the photo is improved, the two images side by side make an excellent "Before and After" example. Much appreciated as are the flowers!

      Well yes it is better.Still not sure about the noise though.I know what Barrie has done has improved it but at at ISO100 unless I had change the brightness a lot I would not expect to have to use any noise reduction software.
      I just wonder if it has anything to do with how much you are compressing the files at editing.I notice they are about 600x800 but the file sizes seem very small.
      Still not sure if the would affect the noise unless it is artifacts we are seeing.

      If you look at my picture here taken at ISO200 with the same lens ,this is much more how I would expect the image to be noise wise.

            Very clear and sharp Andy did you use a tripod? and did you run it through Noiseware? it may be over compressed but the other photos were resized the same thanks for your time very much appreciated.

                I really like all these pictures, the colour in No.1 and the use of the flower in the background works well.

                As for the noise it look like it is due to compression of the file rather than image noise. Certainly if the 620 and the legendary 50mm lens gives this level of noise something is not right. Can you upload the base file without any compression?

                  Ross I have tried Noise ninja and they both seem to do the job, neat image can be used as a stand alone programme but i like to include it in my normal workflow at the end of any PP work so the plug-in works best for me. With a lot of my insect work I use ISO 400 - 800 even in good light because I am shooting into shadow most of the time and dragonflies and butterflies are prone to light changes more than noise and movement so Neat Image made a big difference in my work and I can highly recommend it.

                    edmond473, Yeah I'm sorry for hijacking the thread too, but some things have to asked when when it emerges in a thread. I do love the colours & composition of these flower shots, but I have another question about the first photo. Are you using auto gradation?

                      Nice set of pics Edmund, the "noise" in the first eveyone keeps mentioning is in fact jpeg artifacting from compression and not noise.
