My garden macro shots with the Zuiko 50mm I used manual settings over cast morning I am pleased with them, but please point out any improvements
that I could do. I have done some cropping but they have not been altered apart from a little contrast and light ajustment. thanks JohnR

    Re: Looking for perfection

The colours in #1 and #2 are really lovely but it's #1 that does it for me. The out of focus colours contrasting with colours of the blooms make all three a beautiful set of photos.

    Well done John

For me it's number three, absolutely lovely with plenty of detail.

They all look a little grainy for ISO 200,particulaly No1.How much adjustment did you give them?I also think No1 needs a much greater DOF.

Hi Andy. I cropped a couple of times and then resized. Looking at them they do look a bit grainy could it be I have cropped to much? Thanks for looking John

            Re: Looking for perfection

I enjoy this type of photography myself but it isn't really my forte so I'm not the best qualified to comment. They all look really good to me but I especially like the first. However, I can see what Andy means about a little extra DOF - as long as a smaller aperture didn't destroy the excellent bokeh or render the OOF flower in the background much sharper - at the moment that part of the image looks just right. To my eye the composition is first class.

              Nice shots John.
No 1. I would have left in the leaf at the top, it has a bit cut off.
No 2. Needs a bit more DOF to include the green bits in the middle of the flower for me.
No 3. Is gorgeous. I would have cloned out the twig on the left hand side if it were mine, just a little distracting for me. And maybe darkened the corners to focus attention on the bright flower.
But a lovely set of flower pics.

Don't all these posts prove that viewing photographs (or indeed viewing anything) is subjective and that everyone is right?

This shot I have set the ISO to 100 and used A mode and have increased the dof a little your thoughts? John.

I agree with you Bob but seeing the photo in minds eye is so different than others see it, Constructive criticism in my view helps to improve my photography.

Edmund, I agree with Andy the image is very noisy so I downloaded it and reduced the noise in Neat Image and this is the difference.

I hope this will demonstrate the need for noise reduction and also how good this software is.

I hope you don,t mind me editing your image and I hope it has been helpful. I use the software as a plug-in to Photoshop Elements and Lightroom and the entire process takes about 30 seconds, this is the pro version of the software and as you can see the results speak for themselfs.

Nice set of photos but the noise is nicely fixed here. I would like to know how Neat Image & Noise Ninja compare, as I can buy Noise Ninja as a standalone package.
