I'm liking so much of what I read about the E-M5, but not the focusing issues. I didn't like the CLACK much either (Imagine using that in a hide... ) The lens actually felt heavier with the E-PL3 than with the E5 due to lack of balance.
Cathrine, the 300mm f2.8 seems to quickly achieve focus but then go oof for a split second before achieving focus again and confirming. Not a problem on fairly static birds but hopeless for in-flight shots. It does seem a little unbalanced when used hand held although it would probably feel better with the HLD-6 grip - if I ever get mine!
In contrast, like you with the E-PL3, the 50-200mm will hunt for ages before occasionally confirming focus even when it is still oof.

Cathrine - I had an E3 and an E5 but have replaced the former with a second E5. It has made life a lot easier having two identical bodies and there are several E5 on the market now some folk are moving to MFT.

You can see them here (scroll down for the E-PL3 version) & here.

I made up my own extra grip for the E-M5 (because I can't spend anymore for the Oly one at this point) to make it better with my 4/3's lenses, but if you get to try the E-M5, it would be best if you could try it with a grip too.

I think we may see something at Photokina in September that will help in us knowing what is happening in 4/3's. An E5 replacement was said (early this year) to be under development, but I don't know if later decisions have changed for that. I think we may find out in September this year or maybe January next year if an E7 is coming (or something else to take its place), because Oly emphasized that the E-M5 was not a pro level camera (as the E5 is).
Thanks, Ross! You know, I'm going to hold on to the 4/3, bring loads of extra and new batteries for the E3 and E5 for Greenland, use the E-PL3 for landscapes if the E3 fails (which - COME ON, we know it won't!). If it's possible from the boat, I would love to get some under-the-ice shots with the E-PL3 in its "wet-suit". My colleague treated me to the PTWC-01 wet lens wide angle (http://www.olympus.co.uk/consumer/pe...wc-01_7576.htm) (I must have forgotten myself and been NICE )

I will hold on for the E7, I'm on Greenland at the time of Photokina, but hopefully they'll release it then, and I can have it for Antarctica i February or Cairns in April.

        Here's to hope:

        And Olympus Head Quarters:

I am hereby offering to test the coming E7 in BOTH the Arctic and the Antarctic. This is an offer you simply cant refuse. It's free...

Surely worth building a new camera just for that.

Probably worth it even if only for the Greenland trip.

But Olympus, it doesn't mean I'm not willing to test the E7. I promised that, and I take promises very seriously
