This just came up on my google suggested links today - new AeroPress model…I didn’t think anything so simple can be improved but apparently it can!

“The AeroPress Premium is the newest coffee maker on AeroPress’ roster. The first constructed completely of glass and metal, the coffee maker is great for those trying to go plastic-free. On top of that, it makes an excellent cup of coffee — it’s just really expensive.“

At a gobsmacking $129 for something that doesn’t even need a power plug it’s a l bit too much for my Christmas list!

One advantage of the glass one not mentioned in the review is the plastic ones get scored by coffee grounds over time and the press doesn’t work effectively so the coffee that gets past the plunger as a result makes a mess. This shouldn’t happen with the glass one.

I bought an Aeropress when I was travelling a lot for my work, staying in mainly cheap hotels. I used it in my hotel room I still have it and should use it again, though I also bought a one-cup mokka pot, recently, so it has to compete with that

    Bloomin' 'eck.
That's pricey, and not yet available, certainly in the UK.

My original Aeropress cost 25 quid quite a few years ago, and I'm pleased to say it's still working fine with no leaks. I see they're approaching 50 quid now, which is a bit rich IMHO. Some of those full function expresso and other coffee makers are indeed works of art, but I've never exhausted the capacity of the beautifully simple Aeropress to respond reliably to changes of extraction variables (grind, time, temperature etc), so I've stuck with it. Maybe my West Midlands' origins have instilled too much of a VFM ethos for me to move on!

When I'm at home I make one large cup per day, around lunchtime. If I drink full-leaded coffee after around 5pm it very reliably keeps me awake and, to be honest, I haven't found a decaf coffee that I really like.

This thread has grown to a really interesting and useful resource

Based on a recommendation from a camera club friend, I get my beans delivered from the Algerian Coffee Stores in Soho: https://algeriancoffeestores.com/ I'd prefer to buy local, but despite trying a number of suppliers I havn't found anything to compete (just try their Costa Rica Tres Rios!). Spend £50 and UK postage is free, and I find I get through that much before the beans fade.
    Regards,
    Mark

I looked around for decaff, for similar reasons. I have found Waitrose own brand Peruvian decaff suits my tastes quite well, and a lot better than most. I buy it ready-ground and it seems to last the life of a packet OK if kept in an airtight jar.

Thanks, I don’t think I’ve tried that, but I’ll see if our local Waitrose has any.

Here you go, still a chance of an early bird offer on a potential new to the market coffee grinder; only £422 with the claimed 44% discount, though I'm guessing it will be subject to duties and tax
That's just for a grinder by the way.

63mm Conical Burr | Anti-Static | Low Noise | RPM | Light Roast | Full Accessories Included | Check out 'Grind with Olentia: Your brewing partner' on Indiegogo.
