Place of manufacture might give some idea of age, though obviously that's no indication of wear/condition; I'm not aware of any serial number look-up...

I believe the original ones were made in Japan, then production moved to China, before being transferred to Vietnam.

Gary, I don't have a mac myself, but how about trying something like "exiftool -xmp=" which might just remove those pages from the metadat...

If you have a play with exif tool a bit deeper, (I used exiftoolgui on Windows10) it seems that you only need to strip out the xmp section from the metadata;...
