I wonder if it would have a benefit or disadvantage for glasses wearers?

      Good to know

Is yours the same shape/size as the one mentioned by the OP as when when added to the glasses puts ones eye a marked distance away from the viewfinder.

I have used the JJC extended eyepieces on both the I-mkii and 1-mkiii .one of the better Chinese companies there products tend to do what it says on the box . . and it does help if you wear specs to

I had a glitch with the code when I was posting the image and link - is it visible now? If not, the link is https://amzn.to/3xuT5ED

Ian, thanks - It doesn't show in the original post but thanks for the Amazon link.

I will be ordering one but from a different seller......the short video on both sellers pages is identical but the pictures are a different mix. The reason I have gone for this seller is that it is Dispatched from Amazon not the merchant IMO much easier to deal with Amazon than the merchant directly

I will let you know what I think once received & tried on the camera

I look forward to reading what you think of it in practice Box Brownie. Then I might consider getting one.

I am hoping as a glasses wearer and left eye shooter that I can see the EVF clearly without feeling like I am looking down a tunnel.

Plus that less chance of my nose pressing on the LCD and the extra space/distance will aid my right thumb accessing the controls that bit easier

The further away your eye, the less of the screen area you will see. I find I can barely see the entire screen with glasses as it is, a deeper eyecup will make it even worse I would imagine.

Regor250 That's a very good point. However, in my case I don't wear glasses when shooting.

Thanks for the link. I have ordered one too.
I have the deeper Olympus eyecup on my E-M1 III and have been 'keeping an eye out' for a solution for my OM-1.

What eye cup do you use on the Mk3? Does it help when wearing glasses? Thanks

IIRC it's the Olympus EP-13 eyecup. I don't wear glasses when I look through the viewfinder so can't comment on that aspect.

OK, my first impressions following my first day with the deeper eyecup for the OM-1 :

It does place your eye a few millimetres further back and hence can reduce your view of the whole EVF area. BUT, all you have to do is lean your face in to compensate and the rubber is very soft and comfortable and easily allows this.

The big advantage to me as a wildlife and surfer action photographer mostly using telephoto lenses is that because I have learnt some time ago to nearly always shoot with both eyes open, it is now much easier to have simultaneous sight of being both inside and outside the viewfinder and consequently to spot a target rather than be lost in a narrow telephoto tunnel view desperately trying to find it!

Well, picked up my Amazon parcel from the local hub.

Though I ordered it from another reseller who Amazon dispatch for, it was in a branded box by the other one KiwiPhoto.....but had an oversticker of the supplier name I chose! Furthermore under the shrinkwrap there is a JJC sticker.

I will trying it out in due course

Mine was packaged in exactly the same way with the same branding throughout except no over stickers. I ordered from Amazon and received it 2 days later with free shipping.

Am very happy with it so far - As my Post Albums above.

        Update

        A tad later than intended....

Tried it and in my case, with my glasses, it does not yield an improved EVF view......but a worse one!

It will be going back for a refund.

        C'est la vie

I don't usually wear my (variofocal) glasses while shooting but tested it just to see and it also made my EVF view worse too! But I like it very much for the reasons I already said in my Comment # 9.

I wear varifocals too but being shortsighted can't dispense with them.

One thought that did occur to me would be to trim the eyecup flatter than the current OEM one i.e. to still leave a cushioned edge to protect the glasses but the aim is to get a couple of mm closer. It may or may not work, so just trying risks wasting £15.99 !

I'm interested and wear specs BUT it says ... soft yet durable silicone design is comfortable for those who do not wear eyeglasses

I have one but did not like it, it needs to be cut to fit your eye better as to much rubber near your nose, I put the old one back on, using specs it maybe better??
