  • A couple from Whitby - B&W or colour?

Which would you choose for this?

SWMBO prefers one, and I prefer the other - no pressure here, but which is the better photo?

With added grain as well as B&W...

Both work well Walti, but I prefer the colour. It seems to be more interesting....:-)

Same here - I'm not so sure the added grain works in the sky in the mono version.

Colour for me works well adds a bit more drama to the image

Colour for me too. The added "grain" on the b+w looks very artificial, though this may be down to jpg compression artefacts.

I prefer the colour, I'd be tempted to play with the white balance to make it a little more blue - but that's just an idle suggestion.
            They're both smashing shots.

I tried more blue, but the sky lost a lot of detail so I pushed the sky back to warmer using a filter in Lightroom

Playing with it a bit further, I've managed to brighten up the green in the "Bouy" at the end of the harbour entrance.

(sorry don't know the nautical term for a bouy nailed to a harbour wall!)

Can't see a lot of difference if I am honest, the green light is slightly greener.....(buoy???. I think they float!)

Agree with the general consensus on this, colour is best

I'd normally go for B&W, but definitely colour for this one. The sepia in the sky does look a bit odd to me though....
