  • Bow Fiddle

This is an image of Bow Fiddle rock at Portnockie, on the Moray coast.

Taken with my newly-acquired that day E-1, it is of 4 exposures processed as an Exposure Fusion in Photomatix Pro,

      Sky looks fine to me.
Very pleasing image with a great composition and foreground interest - the stones lead you into the image. Nice vibrant colours.
I have often hankered after the E-1 for the Kodak colours but my E-500, when I choose to use it, is equally good at this sort of thing.

Looks like a nice one to me. Did it play you a good tune?

Thanks folks. This was my second attempt at a shot - the first day I got my feet very wet! And it was a dull day, so made the effort and returned later in the week (after an E-1 purchase!).

Very striking view and a nice punchy picture. Were you away on a break as well??

Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

Yes, we had a wet week in a lighthouse keepers cottage overlooking Lossiemouth air base. Spectacularly noisy, with the afterburners of the Tornados lighting up the night. No photos of the jets however - just that little bit far away. But Ffordes was within striking distance

Do what I do and wander down to the fence at the NE end of the runway or even the beach there.
This was with the 40-150 on my E-500.

I like the Bow Fiddle picture. I take it that its a form of HDR.
I've not got that far along the coast yet.
The sky looks great to me.
Fantastic skies are one of the great features of the Moray Firth. A much under rated part of the world and if it does rain occasionally you just have to step into a distillery for shelter.

A little clearer than most of the weather we had!

Yes, it is a form of HDR, using the same software, Photomatix Pro, but somehow it does a softer, more natural, blend of exposures. I took 5 bracketed but only used 4 of them as I felt the 5th had nothing to offer the party.

I should add that I had a polarizing filter on as well.

                      It works very well.
