early morning jaunt down to the wood ,where mrs kingfisher was ready and waiting for me ..lights still poor up here so shots at 8000iso ,, the first shot is a 2x digital crop jpg at 1680mm @ f5.6 others are RAW files... still loads to PP but a fun hour or two bar that its bloody cold up here and shot number 3 I seem to have fish eye i.d on the camera now
I wish I could find some perched ones, seen a good number on our recent travels in France but they’ve been whizzing past at about Mach 2! I’ve been thinking about going somewhere like RSPB Rye Meads but there’s problems with that…a ways to travel and not reliably open. The known local reserve places are often a bit crowded out even on week days.
This one’s been appearing daily for a good few weeks now bill . But a bit far for you unfortunately unless you visit your friends up here .. the birds becoming a local celebrity now
All excellent, but I agree with above that reflection picture is really great
Regards
Andy

The only kingfisher I have ever seen was on a marina in the south of Egypt at Port Ghalib. The last place on earth you would probable expect to see one.
There is a spot on the river Avon in Chippenham where there is a steep mudbank with several holes dug into the wall - just where kingfishers would make their nests. On one visit there I did see very fast flashes of blue, so clearly there were kingfishers about but I have to actually see one in the UK.
Those are absolutely superb shots Jeff.
