Raptors: Bald eagle with a snack. [somewhat graphic] Peregrine falcon. Osprey.
We had a nice day out yesterday on a wildlife driving tour near Lake Apopka, Florida. We saw quite a few predators (birds as well as reptiles). This eagle flew in with his lunch - another bird as yet unidentified. And then flew off with the remains. Also making use of the power poles (some active and some old) were a peregrine falcon and an osprey.

We were in the car after having the peregrine falcon pictures when we saw this large bird flying towards us. "Is that an eagle? Oh cool" Jump out of the car to get him in flight, and then he/she lands [with the meal!] two poles down from where the falcon was!
i see the tables have turned on the corvid(s). i normally see the corvids harassing the raptors...and wondered why the larger raptors did not simply 'eat' them.
Now we know they do! The corvids really will taunt them. It's the first time I've seen a raptor with a bird for kill. Around us it is almost always rabbits or squirrels or snakes.
