Lovely shots - the first my favourite - of this very smart duck/sawbill (you can see from the first photo why they are categorized as "sawbills"). Not sure what you call them these days in the US but in the UK they're known as Goosander!

antpitta In e-bird it is the Common Merganser (Mergus merganser). This is the female. Apparently, goosander is the common name used in Eurasia.

That's interesting because when I go into eBird it shows as Goosander: https://ebird.org/species/commer
I wonder if eBird is sensitive to the location of the user - hence showing this as it would be in the UK and for you, maybe, how the species is known in Australia? I know from birding in Canada that it is now known as Goosander whereas a few years ago I heard it being described there as Common Merganser. Anyway, its not going to matter much longer with the forthcoming "unification" of the IOC/Clements classifications (and subsequent update to eBird) so it should be Goosander everywhere!

My eBird app shows common merganser. I've never heard the term goosander.
