  • Flycatchers

I got a nice shot of one of these eating a grasshopper the other day. Today I went out to try and catch some in flight. What I caught instead was a bit of a fight! These aren't pin sharp, but certainly acceptable, and came out OK even though the bright part of the birds were overexposed. Now that I know where they hang out, I can give it another try. I think the 2nd one is my favorite.

Also, I used that Wimberly monopod head and was really happy with it. Very sturdy and secure.

And I caught one decent one just flying.

Hi Celeste - not wanting to be critical, but these are looking a bit too bright on my screen, so lacking in solid black in the dark areas and some of the highlights blown. This could be down to monitor calibration.

Can anyone else corroborate this? It could be just me of course

OK, glad you're aware. Do you have a theory as to why the exposure is off?

Operator error. Too busy trying to get the shot and wasn’t watching the histogram.
