Well in an effort to bring a bit more variety to the photos being posted on this Forum, I decided it was time to bring a bit of
. . . . . art to these pages. Am I allowed to use the excuse of 'art' as a means of showing a nude on this forum?
This is part of a project to create an artwork from the remains of an old leather sofa that had been in the family for a very long time. I have worried family and friends for some time by saying that the lovely thick leather might be made into 'cod pieces', corsets, or some other bizarre afterlife. But initial ideas weren't flowing, so the large bits of leather that had been cut from the old sofa were left gathering dust until a recent art exhibition had an artist friend ringing me telling me that I had to go and see it - amongst the fabulous drawings were some line drawings of nudes that gave me an idea of how to use some of the leather and some rope that was once used as a sample for a riverside landscape project - well that's my excuse anyway!
So the intention is to use the rope to give a simple line 'drawing' effect of a figure lying across the sofa, head on one arm and feet on the other (as viewed from in front). The piece will be about 5 feet in width.
This photo is part of a test of concept prior to further work to make the work capable of being hung on a wall. The arms of the sofa have been 'photoshopped' in to help give me an idea of what needs to be added - some other bits of leather will be used and made 3D to give a visual logic to the head and feet resting on the arms of the old sofa.
So, I don't think that this will end up on the walls of the Tate Modern, but it will hopefully bring a smile to those who see it and keep a reminder of a lovely old sofa in the family.

Regards
Chris
