The eagerly awaited warm weather is with us and insanely we embarked on a long walk in the midday heat along the canal towpath. It was busy but everyone was in high spirits and enjoying the day.
A couple of pix from today and heron shots from yesterday when we headed in the opposite direction along the canal.
1. A peaceful scene, well almost - just before and just after this was taken the towpath was busy with cyclists!

2. We were upset last week when our local resident swan, who had been patiently sitting on her nest for over four weeks, was suddenly attacked by two dogs whose owner had little control over them. We don't know if she survived - she was taken into care but we don't know the outcome. Her mate is heartbroken and stays close to the nest which is now bereft of eggs. On a happier note a pair of neighbouring swans have produced a family of seven. Here are six of the cygnets - there's always one that's camera shy!

Now back to the herons!
3. Lift off!

4. In full flight!

5. Almost grounded!

All taken with E-30, 70-30 mm
