  • E-Mail at the end of your driveway

Had the camera with me today while going from point A to point B for work and took one of the back country roads and came across this along the way

Just had to have a picture of this, I think last year they had an old lawnmower tractor as their mail box, these people must have a good sense of humour

Edit: Taken with the E-30 and the OM 50/1.8 at f5.6 I think.

That looks a classic. A lovely shot with that lens.

Isn't it annoying when you have taken that shot with your OM lens & with all good intentions the settings weren't recorded & you just hope your memory is working 100%, but I'll tell you, I wish I could remember to record such details at the time, because I have a hard time trying to remember them later (especially when you're over 50, but I'm sure there are those over 70 with fantastic memory).

Just out of curiousity, what other lenses do you have & what was the reason for using this lens (OM 50mm 1.8) for this shot?

Hi Ross, I guess you could call it a classic, I can see the look on the mail delivery person face the first time they pulled up to deliver their mail.

Well my memory isn't what it used to be either, hit the big 50 next month so it's getting to be a slippery slope now so to speak

All the lenses I have currently are in my signature line, as for why I picked the OM 50mm for this shot, well I didn't really select it specifically for this shot, I like the manual focus control of the old lenses and I like to do a little old school once and awhile.

I have a 28mm wide angle lens in route to me that I picked up on eBay for $25 once it arrives I'll be doing some playing around with that one and will likely post some pics on here later.

Re: E-Mail at the end of your driveway

I got my OM28 2.8 with an OM10 camera outfit at a nice price in a case too with 2 X OM50 1.8 lenses where one had been dropped & dinged the filter thread. A bit of careful panel beating fixed that part but the aperture is a bit sluggish so I keep that one for lens stacking (I think I'll give that to my son for that) but now I use the 50 & 28 lenses reversed on the bellows for supermacro use but wish I had the auto bellows to make focussing a little easier (when stopped down). I haven't had much normal use of the 28mm lens yet.

I am waiting for a focus confirm adapter to arrive to see if that will help when using the 50mm lens (normally). The poorer eyesight is another thing you have to put up with as the years roll by (I'm 6 years ahead of you).

I'll make sure I have my OM primes with me for my next general photo day for those moments when I want to take time over still shots, but the 14-54 II & 70-300 are the usual lenses in use.

Good luck with your coming lens.
          Ross

PS I couldn't see your signature line when writing the last post, but now I have mine in order.

Re: E-Mail at the end of your driveway

Reminds me of when I lived in the US and saw a box on top of the flag pole with "Air Mail" written on it.

            Well spotted
