  • My latest camera - the iPhone 8

It's old. The battery doesn't last long. It's cracked on the back and the screen on the front is scratched. It gets sat on, dropped probably twice a week, stuffed into trouser and jacket pockets, and just generally abused - unlike my Oly gear that's babied. I've never really looked at it as a serious photography tool, but just recently I've tried a bit harder and got some half decent shots. All are processed on LR using an iPad. Total weight about 250g!

Of course, they don't stand up to careful scrutiny in terms of IQ, and none of the subjects are "tricky" in terms of lighting or action and clearly there was no need for any telephoto effect, so it's about as easy as it can get - but it does show that you don't always need a fancy camera to get a half-decent result.

One can't deny the phone cameras have come a long way and also have push the P&S out of the market. There are things they are really good at, like out of phones panoramas

That’s a great shot Henry. The pano feature on the iPhone works very well.

In fact they are better then our cameras that have the panorama features.

Remember some one asking for linear panorama? A smart phone is able to do it at ease

A reminder that it's the person behind the camera/imaging device who has a lot to do with the end result
