  • My exercise equipment. ;)

Who needs gym equipment when all the gear is at home?

The blower served its purpose too (function & exercise).

    Taken with a lighter bit of equipment, E-M1 & 12-40 f/2.8 lens.
I've got to wait a few more weeks before I can wield the heavier pole hedge trimmer to do the top).

Well done Ross, wielding that camera is bound to tone you up....

I find that the EM1 iii and the 300mm pro around my neck makes me droop a bit, so i consciously straighten up, which is good for back and neck muscles...

And what did you get a wife for, she should be good for hacking the hedge...:-)

    (Joking I promise.............)

Thanks Mark. Of course the camera gear is an absolute essential part of my exercise equipment.
I tend to hold up the weight with my left hand with it around my neck, but I'm still stooped (my bifocals probably hasn't helped there).

A few weeks ago I was concerned about the hedge getting overgrown so my lovely wife got the secateurs out & trimmed the worst of the potato vine, on the right (why didn't I think of that?). So I later did similar along the main hedge on the left too, but I would have been there a week without making a great difference. I didn't do the potato vine with the hedge trimmer as well this time as our green bin & the neighbours were full. I also had previous trimmings from the camellias (done by my son from the top with a chainsaw) hiding behind the hedge, waiting for bin room, so it all went in this time.

My husband keeps the outdoor maintenance tools like lawn movers, grass trimmers, week whackers, hedgers, etc., running smooth with sharp blades so that I can do a quicker and more efficient job on our landscape!

Yes I currently get most of my exercise cutting our hedge too. The long pole cutters are brilliant. Looks like you did a great job Ross.

Thanks Phill. Not really brilliant by professional standards (probably a bit rougher this time too), but it is hard work when doing it fully, using the pole hedge trimmer, although I might find it easier as I get fitter over the coming months (with better blood flow to the heart). I had a Ryobi 18v pole version with segments & updated it with the telescopic version. It works well, but I have other options too (Ryobi 36v & attachments for AEG line trimmer etc.). Everything I use is battery now. AEG have finally brought their own hedge trimmer attachment which is much better than the Ryobi Expand-It version (coming from the same factory), so I'll be adding that to my collection next year too. https://www.aegpowertools.com.au/out...e=All+Products

I've got a Ryobi pole trimmer too but it's mains not battery. Really does get the job done. Mind you it's going to be looking for a new home soon as we might be moving to a new house that doesn't have any hedges to cut! Might get more time for photography then....well I can dream at least!

I had a 240v saw Ryobi pole originally (& a standard hedge trimmer when it was grey & yellow) but it took too many extension power leads to be convenient & was glad when battery power became reliable. Thankfully I was able sell it (at a budget price to a friend). The first blower used a NiCad battery (still takes the later batteries).
Working...
