  • Wow, some find. I see the wound, I guess the fox must have shaken the snake to death. What a shame, and a waste..

My cats try to do much the same with a moving hosepipe.

      • Chinese Water Deer have become abundant on our marshes (near the junction of the Waveney & Yare valleys on the Norfolk/Suffolk border). I came across these two young fawns earlier today. For once, I saw them before they saw me despite being only 5m or so from them! Hard to tell from this photo but these were about the size of a hare.

Our neighbor was 'showing off' around a copperhead to a garden contractor and got bitten. Contractor drove him to the ER, and then he got the helicopter ride to the big hospital that had the right antivenom. Not only was it very painful (he was quite sick) it also very expensive. [He did recover completely]. Please don't play with snakes, folks.

We are lucky only to have one venomous snake here in UK. And you really have to be unlucky or foolish to get bitten. Dogs of course get bitten as they insist on sticking their nose into everything.

Personally, I am always on the look out for reptiles of any sort, but if I lived in USA or Oz, I would be very much more careful and respectful...:-))

Nice! I think I would have wanted more that 400mm if I saw that.

            • River otter. I have captured them several times on my trail/game cameras at night, but this was the first time to see it in person. Our pond is getting quite low, so the fish are getting concentrated in smaller pools. Easy dining for Mr (or Ms) Otter. I tried to shoot some video, but it was really shaky.

A lizard that wandered through the garden of a place we were staying in Margaret River. He (she?) was about 50cm long.

I believe it is a King Skink - certainly a pretty buff looking speciman.

Knowing how fast and never still these hares are - that's a great shot!

                  • Literally stumbled over this little guy on my morning walk. Ran away. Once I was 'out of range' I managed to turn around and grab a couple of shots as it bounced off into the tall grass. Somehow, I managed to get the eye in focus on this one image. The shaky quality definitely reflects my feelings about skunks.
