      Our local Nextdoor forum (for neighbours to connect) questioned & was wondering why the chopper was hovering & circling around overhead in their neighbourhood. At least the signage makes it clear.

      Yes, they have a large area to cover with just the Blue Mountains area to start with, but it is even more vital to keep on top of power lines in the Mountains & other bush areas to ensure no faults could start a fire & hence enter the bush. I don't know how much they check over the rest of the Sydney metro areas though. They're checking with a thermal imaging camera for any hot spots on the system looking for any possible connection (or overloading?) problems. Two or three years ago they came around our street & replaced (upgraded) the connectors & cabling (to bundled) to the power lines.
