Relax, I'm talking about my old ski boots.
After 40 years languishing in our cupboard they are definitely no longer fit for any use & not even fit to keep for display etc., in fact my boots are splitting already.

These knee high boots were around during the late 70's & early 80's & were like using 'power steering' on the skis, but I think they went out of favour when leg breaks were occurring around the knees. Thankfully I didn't experience that, although while standing near the bottom at Smiggin Holes (a NSW ski resort) on one occasion two skiers had collided with each other above me & then slid into the side of me. I went home limping from the impact & swelling around my throat from whiplash & noticed later the left binding got bent too. Actually, looking now at the above photo of my red & grey boots on the left (my wife's on the right) I guess those cracks weren't just from sitting in the box for all those decades but already fractured back then (I may have realised it then, but my memory isn't as good as it used to be). I think that may have been the last time I had gone skiing or else I may have had the boots collapse on me then. I did have another pair of conventional boots too (disposed of long ago).
As shown in another thread, I'm keeping my skis & stocks as a wall hanging display (that reminds me, I must hang up those cheap bagpipes somewhere too
).

BTW, I like to have colour matching gear & clothing so my ski suit was pale grey with red on the jacket to go with the above pale grey & red boots & of course, pale grey gloves too, so the skis fitted in well, although I would have liked a pair of Rossignol skis though.
