  • Farewell "Anu", >>> Her New Queensland Home Pics (Update)...

It has been a long and busy day. I was up at 5AM for an important shoot at Nadia's stud farm where a young Welsh Cob filly was being sent to Queensland.
I would have much preferred that she did the shoot herself but as it had to be done at 7:00AM in very low light, she felt that it was a job for dad who almost blew it!

A sad day for grandaughter, Jacqueline, as thoroughbred Welsh Cob filly, "Anu", has been sold to a Queensland buyer.

Jackie leads Anu down the driveway to the waiting horse transport

For the 8 months since "Anu" was born, Jacqueline has played a large part in nurturing her. Sadly it's now time to say farewell to my pretty little girl, "farewell"

Jackie leads "Anu" to the waiting transport …

... and up the ramp …

... where the transport driver ensures that she is tenderly tethered 'with her seat belt fastened', comfortable for her 3 day, 3,000km journey north ...

… to a new home and the lush green pastures of sunny Queensland!
Farewell, "Anu", We wish you well!

… she will be sorely missed, not least of all by "Honey", her mum who galloped down the long driveway to the gate, looking for her filly ...

… but alas, too late "Honey" returns to the yard, whinnying as she looks forlornly into the empty back paddock.

I found the story quite sad for both of them especially mum Honey.
I enjoyed your part of the operation Mark.
    .
Just like that - gone in a flash! Now in use.

Yes Barrie, I too felt for Honey and this morning when I asked how she was doing, Nadie told me that she has now engaged with the other Cobs.
According to Nadia, horses do not grieve like humans, they recover very quickly over the loss of their kin,

Aaah a sad parting. Maybe horses have good family links, don't really know much about that. But a good photo story Mark..:-))

Yes Mark, according to Nadia who has had some kind of "horse sense" since childhood, the other Cobbs seemed to sense that Anu had gone, and readily came to Honey's support.

Oh that made me choke up.
I hope the sequel has a happier ending.
My heart goes out to Jacqueline, that has to be hard.
The photos really tell the story. You did well. How did you almost blow it?

I was wondering how long it would be before someone picked up on that!
Well, as said, I was at Nadia's farm at 6:30AM with dawn just breaking though drizzling rain.
Okay with that, the M1-ii and M5-ii love rain, I had both with me for backup like the 'true pro' I am .
I grabbed the camera from the bag in my car just minutes before the transport arrived, dot on 7:00AM.
"Let the shoot begin" I crowed as we walked Anu down the drive with the camera trying to focus in low light.
When I downloaded the images, the entire shoot was missing - only shots from previous shoots were all that I had.
Before leaving the farm I had shown Nadia one of the pics, A cold chill came over me as I struggled to make sense of it.
Only then did I check the M5-ii's card, and there they all were - like the 'true pro' I'm not, I had inadvertently used the M5-ii
The hallmark of an untrained amateur! The M5 Mkii has PDAF whereas the M1-Mkii also has CDAF enabling it to focus faster,

How many drivers and how many hours of driving did it take?

One driver and approximately 36 hours driving, based upon an emergency trip I made to Brisbane 5 years ago, Derek.
I slept in my car for a few hours by the roadside for two nights running. https://www.e-group.uk.net/forum/for...risbane-update

Well, by the looks of it, Anu will certainly be taken good care of at her kindly new owner's fancy lodgings. I'd say she's on clover.
I wouldn't mind spending 36 hours in the stalls of that transport to take up residence as gamekeeper there on that ranch!
