Autumn Sunshine

Took my new camera for a test drive this afternoon to a little town called Yackandandah about 60km from Wangaratta.
It was a warm sunny autumn day and visitors and locals were relaxing and enjoying themselves.

During a visit to Yakandandah last week, she went her way I went mine, she wasn't waiting for old Arthuritus who struggled along with his antique E3 and the 40-150mm kit lens that came with the E520 (remember). Having not used it forever I wore that lens as a self imposed handicap to give the kid with an M5 Mkii + 12-40mm PRO a chance to gun down the old man who got blind sighted by beginner's luck - ah well, it's all about DNA of course but begrudgingly I can't recall ever having taken a street shot that comes close to her 'reader'!

It looks like you've inherited a natural photographers eye (from somewhere ) Tina that first shot's a beauty. I like the second one too, it gives a real sense of looking in on something. I'd say that little camera is in good hands . Mark you've got to get one for yourself too.

I'm not sure I'd go that far. Obviously, using the EM1 MK2, I would have gotten a far superior shot. Better micro contrast, higher saturation, a more pronounced 3d effect, clinical sharpness, there would probably have been a dancing roo on one of the tables in the background, the pages of the book may have had actual text on them and the old lumberjack would have afforded a seat for his bike. Such a curse is not so easy to bear, but one has to struggle on nevertheless.

In suggesting that the first picture was in the Beagletorque class I was referring to its composition and narrative rather than its technical aspects. Tina is already regretting that she was unable to go the extra K for the M1 Mkii; perhaps in a year or two's time she will then be in a position to upgrade to the next OMD iteration. Meanwhile we can only view with envious eyes the superior micro contrast, higher saturation, a more pronounced 3d effect and clinical sharpness of your masterful images.

Not forgetting the dancing roos, they can add real gravitas to the image.
It's nice and sunny today so I am practicing taking stacked and panoramic images whilst trying not to fall off my pedestal.

As far as composition is concerned, I can't compete with the eye of Tina. I use the spray and pray approach and rely on photoshop to do the magic.
Roll on the EM1 MK3 with 200fps and intelligent framing, I need all the help I can get and some more memory cards.
