That'll do nicely Huw. Beautifully clear shots with great colours. You certainly made the most of your encounter.

Whoa - they're pretty stunning. Pin sharp and you've nailed the exposure - great detail on the underside of the wing. Well done Hew.

Magnificent shots Huw. Much more skill than luck I'd say.

Huw out of interest what settings if any have you set for caf that differ from the defaults?

                By the way great shots.

I currently have my settings for C-AF in manual mode capturing at 'low' 10 FPS, spot metering, cross focusing points (five), C-AF lock -2 (tight).

Lovely light here in South Cambs. this evening, and I can confirm on my first outing in the back garden that the mkII-300 combination achieved the first in-focus PIF and EJIF images I've taken in the past 5 years

That's Pigeon in Flight and EastJet in Flight (a bit short of good subjects just now, but I'll have an outing to Fowlmere RSPB one evening this week if the weather's OK)
                          Regards,
                          Mark

Astonishing clarity and wonderful light - wish I'd taken it myself to paint (I paint exclusively from my own images). Maybe you will take up painting too, one day, Huw !
