  • A Juvenile Koel on a hot day.

It was a hotKoel (a migratory type of cuckoo, leaving it's egg in another's nest).

    A crop of the following.

At first it was hard to see at all.

    More are here. http://fourthirds-user.com/galleries...00/ppuser/3852

EDIT: Also, here is the adult male Eastern Koel taken earlier. These birds are considered a noisy nuisance by a lot of people because they can be heard calling though the night during their mating time & then the juvenile makes continuous cheeps expecting to be fed by the forced adopted parents, usually much smaller then they are, but at least the Koels make interesting photographic subjects.

Ditto Ed's comments, never heard of a Koel either.

Not surprisingly I've never come across these before. Thanks for the fine shots.

What Ed said, a new species for me also.
It's the image that's important, not the tools used to make it.

Thanks for all the comments. I've also added a photo of the adult male Eastern Koel in the first post as well. Like other species (Bower bird, European Black Bird etc) the male is black.

That's a very interesting looking bird Ross. I, too, have never heard of them. Good shots, thanks for posting.
