Re: Bittern & Marsh Harrier
Thanks Peter,Originally posted by art frames View PostVery nice work dave. Would love to get that close to both of them!
How do you find the lens?
The Bittern shots are crops however, the lens is sharp and allows this.
I'm very happy with the lens, it's a joy to use.
I've used it on two day trips, hand held each time, it's not too heavy.
I've yet to try it with the MC-14 as my wife claimed the 40-150 Pro and MC-14 as soon as I received the 300mm however, I expect it will be excellent when used with the TC.

Re: Bittern & Marsh Harrier
I was at Minsmere from Monday to Thursday this week with my 300mm. The 1.4x does help, but one bittern came so close at Island Mere that I could only get head shots - needed the zoom then! I'm sure our lenses would have recognised each other .......Andy

We were there on Tuesday and Thursday, I'm sorry we didn't meet.Originally posted by Bengeo View PostI was at Minsmere from Monday to Thursday this week with my 300mm. I did meet another Oly user who also had an E-M1 with the MC-14 and 300mm Pro, there seem to be more around than I realised.
I'd like to see the head shots you took of the Bittern, we weren't fortunate enough to have one come that close.

Sorry to miss you too - perhaps we can have a 300mm meet one day! I've posted it here:Originally posted by DavyG View PostI'd like to see the head shots you took of the Bittern, we weren't fortunate enough to have one come that close.
Post your photos for friendly, non-critical feedback. This is the place to show pictures if you aren't yet ready for full-blooded critique, or simply want to share an interesting picture with other e-group visitors.
It's only cropped very slightly.Andy

Re: Bittern & Marsh Harrier
We've been lucky in that, we see Bitterns almost every time we visit Minsmere.Originally posted by KeithL View PostExcellent shots. I've never seen a bittern at Minsmere (some people have all the luck!!) Were these from a hide?
We visited around five times this month and have seen at least two during each visit.
These were taken from Bittern hide, as were the other set I uploaded later.
