Very nice work dave. Would love to get that close to both of them!

How do you find the lens?

      Thanks Peter,

The Bittern shots are crops however, the lens is sharp and allows this.

I'm very happy with the lens, it's a joy to use.

I've used it on two day trips, hand held each time, it's not too heavy.

I've yet to try it with the MC-14 as my wife claimed the 40-150 Pro and MC-14 as soon as I received the 300mm however, I expect it will be excellent when used with the TC.

Looks like that Harrier is in his green, green marsh of home, Dave. Impressive shots in a lovely setting.

I was at Minsmere from Monday to Thursday this week with my 300mm. The 1.4x does help, but one bittern came so close at Island Mere that I could only get head shots - needed the zoom then! I'm sure our lenses would have recognised each other .......

We were there on Tuesday and Thursday, I'm sorry we didn't meet.

I did meet another Oly user who also had an E-M1 with the MC-14 and 300mm Pro, there seem to be more around than I realised.

I'd like to see the head shots you took of the Bittern, we weren't fortunate enough to have one come that close.

Sorry to miss you too - perhaps we can have a 300mm meet one day! I've posted it here:

                It's only cropped very slightly.

                  Great shot!

Let me know if you're planning to visit Minsmere again, we're there regularly so it'll give me another excuse to visit.

Excellent shots. I've never seen a bittern at Minsmere (some people have all the luck!!) Were these from a hide?

We've been lucky in that, we see Bitterns almost every time we visit Minsmere.

We visited around five times this month and have seen at least two during each visit.

These were taken from Bittern hide, as were the other set I uploaded later.

Indeed a pleasure to view, Dave, would love the lens, but could no way justify it to myself
The picture tells the story, great when you have a bad memory.DW.
