  • What a Fungi to be with.

It was a rather grey and dull afternoon here in Suffolk however, a walk in our local woods revealed the following fungi.

    Thanks for looking.

      Hello Dave,
Those are lovely shots and the flash has really helped to separate them from the background. I like it when it's a bit dull as you have less contrasty light and a bit of fill in flash usually gets good results.
I've not seen these fungi up here before but we have had some good ones recently.
      Regards Jim.

            Very nicely done.

The netted ones are young Rhodotus palmatus

The first shot is really fantastic which isn't to take away from the others, but the shiny cap is amazing.

                Thanks Jim,

I didn't use flash to take these pics, only the available light.

The E-M10 and MZ 60mm Macro were mounted on a Gorillapod and connected through Wi-Fi to my iPad, I then took the pics using the Olympus Image Share software, I was quite pleased with the results.

The shiny black things, bottom left, in the last image are seed mites.

                      Hello Dave,
I'm even more impressed now that you didn't use flash. I thought there was catch lights in some of the water droplets. Available light is always more natural I think having used fill in flash in the past.

                        Beautiful.

What aperture were you using there?

                          Thanks Mark,

                          Glad you like them.

The first and third images were taken at f4.0, the second at f.5.6.

They show the excellent depth of field inherent in the m4/3 format. Focus stacking is going to be useful, but mainly I suspect for high magnification work and for foreground to horizon sharp landscapes.

I agree regarding the excellent depth of field in m4/3 format however, the images above are not single shot pics.

Each one is the result of focus stacking, all shots taken at the apertures I stated earlier, something I started experimenting with this week.

Looking at what can be achieved, I think the addition of in camera focus stacking will be yet another game changer from Olympus.

Thanks for continuing to look and comment.
