  • Jerusalem Details

We left snaar towers for a visit to the Holy Land. So here are some details for you.

First, security problems and layers of history all in one place..

Second. All sorts of new sights.

Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

How about a grave with a view. The best Jewish grave plots facing temple mount sell for a quarter million euro apparently...

Yes. The situation here has two sides, and they are both bad. I have had more relaxing holidays...

I love the watchtower and grafitti wall,
                    were you restricted in movement?
I'd like to see a much wider angle but much closer to the tower... without getting shot and all that y'know.

From elsewhere in that neck of the woods. Masada. Incredible fortress stronghold. Not suitable for vertigo sufferers.

As to movement restrictions, well yes. The rules change by the hour here. We are based in the Palestinian part so you really get a flavour of the less reported side.

Anyway - the place is weird. It was all security and restrictions on Friday morning which causes friction. By Friday afternoon the army has gone and folks are having picnics. Weird.

An actual oasis in the Judean desert. You would be glad to see this place if you were on foot.. These days it is a monastery.

Also, the crypt under a 12 the century crusader church. Almost untouched.

A brave choice for a holiday, Pete, but it is certainly steeped in history and it is providing you with some unusual photo opportunities. It all looks a bit bleak to me, in more ways than one, but that is part of the fascination.

Your thread brings home just how inhospitable the area appears, thanks for posting, Pete.
