I've seen greenfinches occasionally in the garden but this is the first I've captured on camera

75-300, through the kitchen window, ISO 3200 very dull light.

Someone said to me that goldfinches would go for whole sunflower seeds. I had no idea, but here is the proof! This is another dull day ISO3200 shot through the kitchen window (75-300).

But the new nyjer seed feeder remains in use, too.

I use white sunflower hearts Ian ,less mess than the black ones

Same here, but it was more of a curiosity as I I'd rather stupidly assumed small bits wouldn't be able to cope with the husks. Bizarrely, it's not that easy to find inexpensive sunflower hearts for bird feeding here in France. I did find some the other day at €2.69/kg. There's plenty of the whole sunflower seeds sold though.

Thanks. Lucky to get some actual sunlight but not too harsh! I did run this through the DxO PureRaw software which helps I think.
