Having discovered a local kingfisher has returned, I’m now working on getting to better location/angles,
blooming heck they are fast.
im really struggling with image quality with the 300 and more so with the mc20 . Both of these are 300 only, iso was 800 , shutter 1000 on the egret one and 1600 and shutter 8000 on the second one. Any tips would be appreciated

I'm presuming both are cropped in ?, and knowing there extremely fast birds there could well be a element of motion blur ? do you have access to topaz de-noise Ai or sharpen AI as this would clear it up.. just pulled the top one off and applied de-noise it helps a bit . but my thoughts are now that that you may have missed the focus . can you check the focus point at all either in camera or on screen ?

blackfox. Thanks these were after denotes. Interesting re the focus, I’ve been trying with single focal point due to the ‘busy ‘ background- should I use cluster etc. I wanted to stop down a bit to try and get slightly better DofE, but that reduced the shutter speed too much.
really appreciate the help.
I’ve started to learn this ones ‘routine and perches’ so hoping to get better in future
