  • Katherine Gorge, Outback Australia

Six weeks into my trip I camped at Nitmiluck National Park very close to the Katherine Gorge.
I was sitting close by when a Blue Faced Honeyeater sat under my chair, first one I had seen.
I took a three Gorge boat trip the following day and managed to spot some Aboriginal rock art along the way.
The scenery is good but best viewed from the air ... (if you have a spare $350).
Swam in the gorge as you do, most of the passengers sat on the rocks on crocodile watch, normally only fresh water ones here.

Some fantastic scenery regards the rock features. The last one is something to behold... quite an amazing overhang.
It's not what inspires us that is important, it's where the journey takes us.

Great to see you posting again, Sandra. Wonderful photographs of superb scenery, I can see you are going to put Mark in the shade for a while.

John - In reviewing only some of her images for the first time I'm forced to concede that she is a way better photographer than I.

Furthermore, I venture to say that at all levels women photographers are very often better than their male peers.

Edit: Sandra is presently regaining her mental and physical energy and I am not expecting her to be able to fully engage with the forum for some time yet.

That's understandable and I'm sure you are assisting her in posting on the forum. At least when she has made further progress our comments will still be here to show our appreciation and hopefully provide encouragement in her continuing recovery.

I'm blown away. The trip of a lifetime except that you just may go off and do something similar again. Great pics, I like the honeyeater.

Hello and thank you all for your kind comments on some of my Katherine Gorge photos.

I have an intensive rehab regime for the next 8 weeks so I am leaving it up to Mark to select and post some highlights from my trip for you to enjoy.

I'm at my sister's place 350kms from where Mark lives but he emails selections for me to add commentary.
