Re: Half Moon
Probably closer to 600mm Huw. A 1.4 TC should be 1.415 although manufacturers allow themselves + or - 5%. Did you compare the Tokina 2x to the two 1.4x?

Re: Half Moon
Hi David, no I didn't compare to the Tokina x2, I didn't want to hang around too long outside but in general I think the combination these two is better.Originally posted by David M View PostProbably closer to 600mm Huw. I did also take some shots with the MC-14 and the Tokina, there is one example in my gallery.Regards Huw

Re: Half Moon
Interesting, maybe at some point I should try stacking the OM 1.4x-A and EC14 behind the 350mm.

I must admit I'm pretty happy with what I can see at 100% with these two teleconverters and the Tokina 300.Regards Huw

Re: Half Moon
That could be a while Huw, I haven't used the EC20 behind the 350mm enough to reach a conclusion yet. Then I should test the EC20 with the 50-200 and then test the 350mm with EC14 and EC20 stacked. And as I have two of each of the OM TCs I should test them for sample variation.

Re: Half Moon
That's a fantastic shot Huw. Really shows what stacking converters can do.

Re: Half Moon
That image Huw really shows up all those obscured 'pop marks' that aren't normally seen with our mediocre lenses (like a portrait with a sharp lens), but 'While you were sleeping' (although you're probably getting up now), I took one during daylight & no, it isn't a Tokina lens, but what the heck, I used the EC14 with the ZD70-300 lens with this result (with a crop from 2 X DTC, sharpened for web display at 1000 pixels across). It's fun playing around.
I just lent against a post for steadiness with the E-M1 (ISO400).

BTW, you can't half tell thta this was taken 'down under'.
Hope you don't mind again Huw.

I can remember going through a fair bit testing with some Pentax lenses a while back, checking for decentering, it was a laborious process but worth it.
If I remember rightly it took me two attempts to get a good copy of their 16-50 DA* lens. Not a patch on the 12-60 or 14-54 though.
Thanks Phil, glad you like it, photographing the Moon is becoming a fairly regular event for meOriginally posted by Phill D View PostThat's a fantastic shot Huw. Really shows what stacking converters can do.

Another great shot and hand held too!
I like the subtlety of the Moon is daylight hours, it takes on quite a different look. It's interesting to see all aspects of the inversion too being winter here and summer 'down under'
