  • Lord of the Rings

    @ Lacock Abbey yesterday

My Nick was counting the Rings on this massive tree, recently felled ... he was asked by a passer by, "how old is it?" and that stumped his counting

That's certainly a big stump - nice of someone to cut steps in it to help reach the top.

John, it must have been a HUGE tree and without the steps, not even a giant could get to the top ... and my friend captured him "pushing me off it"

A rough estimate is for each person it takes to link hands round the narrowest part of the trunk is about 100 years.

I suppose that it could be said that when Nick was asked how old the tree was, he was STUMPED!

Fab shot Chevvy, and cleverly titled.
