Entering the town of Longreach the first thing I saw was a huge decommissioned QANTAS Boeing 747-200.
Although I knew that Longreach was the original home of QANTAS it came as a surprise to see this airplane in such an atypical setting.
Not having done my homework (not 'atypical' of me!) I simply thought that it had landed a cargo of Japanese / Chinese / American tourists to the town
and not realising it is a QANTAS Museum I hastened to shoot some pictures before it took off!
I really wish I had not missed the opportunity to look it over.

The town itself looks very friendly and I imagine it is a popular tourist resort. Lyn loves it I believe and I'm sure she
or Sandra will be able to show more of it than I can! Sandra is actually in Longreach right now as I write.
