  • Juvenile Jays

Spotted up in a tree at the end of our garden after a grass cutting session yesterday evening.

It was quite interesting to watch their interaction.

Lovely birds to watch ours are given a hard time by the local magpies.

I'm envious, we never see Jay's in our garden (loads of Magpies though )

Same here. The Magpies have the rest of the bird population terrorised!

Lovely images Huw. Sometimes birds just don't think about nicely posing for us & you did well to get get these shots of them.

Stunning and charismatic birds. These appear a little "gormless" like all newly fledged birds. Well captured.

              Re: Juvenile Jays

Thanks for the comments Ed, Brian, Conor, Ross and David.

Ed and Conor, the local Magpies were giving these two a hard time too, but I just missed out on capturing that action.

Brian and Ross, the angles were pretty acute due to my positioning and their height in the tree

Difficult to capture but with a little imagination you can have a guess at what they may be saying to each other or, at least, thinking about one another! I like the way they are eyeing each other, particularly in 2 and 3!

                  Thanks Ann1e, much appreciated.
I also liked the sizing up of each other, quite amusing to watch.

Working out the 'pecking order' is quite true & this looks just like it here.
