  • Sandra's Circumnavigation of Australia

Our Australia Day long weekend draws to a close and the all those pesky bandwidth polluting kids go back to school tomorrow!

The highways will clear of campers so Sandra set out this morning from Wangaratta on a 300km drive over the mountains to the coast in her Honda Jazz
The XZ-2 seems to be focusing quite well again now, btw ...

This is the first leg of her solo drive around Australia intending only to camp in her tent (no motels) along the way.

Personally I can't comprehend how she can do it but a woman who immediately after an adventure tour to Antarctica, backpacked alone
from the southern tip of Argentina through Chile and Peru for a 7 day trek over the Andes to Machu Picchu with a group half her age,
and take in a few other exotic destinations along the way, anything is possible!

Quote: Wikipedia - "Australia's Highway 1 is a network of highways that circumnavigate the Australian continent,
joining all mainland state capitals. At a total length of approximately 14,500 km (9,000 mi) it is the longest national highway in the world,
longer than the Trans-Siberian Highway (over 11,000 km or 6,800 mi) and the Trans-Canada Highway (8,030 km or 4,990 mi).
Every day more than a million people travel on a part of it."

She is one intrepid lady and I wish her all the best for a safe trip.
I feel a little envious - to go "On the Wallaby" appeals very much.
      Bon Voyage Sandra!

BTW - That's one good stance the photographer has assumed in No3!

I was feeling a little stupid after speaking to her as I forgot to wish her well for her travel. Please pass on my best wishes to her Mark.

I think she is very brave to do what she does.

Seems like your XZ-2 is focussing OK now mate.

Good news you got the camera sorted out, things like that happen to all of us sometimes. Please pass my best wishes to Sandra for taking on the challenge of her her amazing adventure around Australia. I'll look forward to seeing some photos in time.

Thanks for drawing my attention to #3, Lyn - would you believe it, I hadn't noticed him - is it any wonder he hadn't noticed the AF/MF switch on his camera ...

I'm also looking forward to seeing her photos, Tom. She mentioned having taken a few in her text to me earlier.
And I'm sure she will get your best wishes when she views this thread in the morning.

:respect: WOW! Someone sure has itchy feet and some fandabbydoozy memories to look back at.

Would seem your TV proggies are as crappy as ours?

More power to that ladies elbow. Hope all goes according to Plan A and serously looking forward to some piccies.
