  • Some new Windsurf shots

I won't bore you with all of them but thought that, if you were interested, you may like a peek at these two galleries, shot on a wild, grey and cold day, off my usual venue - Avon Beach

The first shows one of the best performed loops, with recovery, that I have seen this year and the other gallery records more of the local Loons having fun in a pretty wild sea

All shot off the beach with the EM-1 + 75-300 and most with ISO1600 to get the shutter speed up where I like it

just one from the session (to "Wet" your appetite )

Brian, my appetite is soaked WoW ! they are mental ... mind you given 15 years back I too would be out in this weather for such a magnificent wind and sailing over those seas

Thanks for the rest it sure is one real murky sea down there, was the tide on the turn ?

      Re: Some new Windsurf shots

Thanks Chevvy, there was a time I would be out in those conditions too, but it was before windsurfing came to the UK! so I would have been out in a dinghy (old ain't I )

The colour is the sandy bottom being churned up, this part of the coast has constantly shifting sand and shingle bars forming and changing position, which can produce some amazing surf but is lethal to the unwary sailor.

In this series the tide was going out fast, which eventually killed both the waves and the wind

A few years ago there was a shingle bar that went out for about 400 yds straight out from the beach and I managed to get shots from underneath kite surfers as they jumped overhead, dangerous but magical fun

            Brian,

What a stunning set of images on a wet and windy day and great to see the combo delivering.

I have the EM1 + Pany 100-300 but as yet not tried it in anger to capture anything as radical as these so hope it can match your quality of image.

I am interested to know what focus mode you used - AFC or AFC tracking?

I did try AFC for my hunt photos and I am very pleased with the results it delivered.
