  • First day with E-M1

On our return from SRS Watford yesterday afternoon it was grey and drizzly, so no point in venturing out and today was similar this morning but you can't just sit indoors all day with a new camera so we didn't. The sun shone some of the time but there were also threatening clouds most of the time (not now, of course, the evening sky is clearing!).

Anyway just three taken on a walk back along the towpath.

The first taken as we began the trek back -this was taken with the 12-50 mm lens which I have been using for some time. Not too bad - as Barrie was feeling somewhat 'under the weather' today and sitting at a lock being photographed was probably not high on his agenda! -

    1.

The next two were taken with the 75-300 mm lens and although I have yet to try the lens on true BIF (can't really count these ridiculous ducks who were having a game this afternoon), I think I am going to love this lens. I have been using the 70-300 mm more than any other but it does hunt and the 75-300 mm seems much more responsive.

    2.

    and finally -

    I have the power!

    3.

All taken with the OM-D E-M1, 12-50 mm for the first and 75-300 mm for the second and third.

    Regards,
    Ann1e

Sorry to hear that Barrie was not feeling too good today, but he does look as distinguished as ever and I'm glad you are enjoying your new camera. I love that shot of the ducks!

          Yes but no but....
          That wasn't a retail edition.
And I've been waiting patiently for Ann1e's since last night!
PS I should have said that I love the ducks.

I like those ducks as well

Glad you got your camera so quickly! Perhaps I should have ordered one when I was in SRS the day I met you.

Looking forward to seeing some more shots.

Thanks Anne - in fact our order for the camera was with SRS well before the Olympus day they held when we met up with you, so I don't think those who ordered then would have been lucky enough to get one of the first batch. I know Stephen was in at the crack of dawn as we thought we might meet up with him also but he had been and gone!

Lovely first shots Ann1e. I got home just after the sunset so my battery is still on charge. Glad I bought the 12-50 now otherwise I'd have been unable to try it out as the 4/3s adapter has to come separately from Oly. The ducks are great.

It wasn't the C of D! It was 10:00! We had to wait till the charity shops opened for Ro as part of the deal!

                          Re: First day with E-M1

Good stuff for your first outing with the "new toy" Anne.

You're right the 75-300 II is a superb lens. I had two 4/3 70-300's at different times and thought them great. When I got the E-M5 I had a Panasonic 100-300 for a year and found that pretty good too. When the Mk II 75-300 came out at the same price as the Panasonic I swapped to that and found it's the best of the lot.

                          Regards.

she looked at me and said "It's official. I hate your camera. It's just so amazing and perfect I want one!"

Thanks all for your very encouraging comments. I am having great fun with the camera and today we have been in London so, although the weather was disappointing, I have been able to try the newly acquired 60mm and 75-300mm lenses. I am at present using the 12-50mm which I already had but am eagerly awaiting the 12-40mm!

I will post some pix from today using all three lenses (and using the art filter) in a separate post.

                              Regards,
                              Ann1e
