    You were certainly in the right place at the right time, even if it was pretty much accidental! Two excellent shots! I particularly like the first.

            I agree with everyone else. Very nice shots, an excellent recovery when your initial target just wasn't going to work.

                  You should have taken 2 or more shots and stitched them to get all the rainbow. As for luck you made you're own by going out in horrid but changeable weather.

                    Thanks. To be honest I thought I had it all, but it was VERY windy and difficult to stand still, even leaning against the gate.

                        Apparently the dark area of sky between the two rainbows is a phenomenon known as Alexanders Dark Band which, as Wikipedia helpfully points out, should not be confused with Alexanders Ragtime Band
