You should have taken 2 or more shots and stitched them to get all the rainbow. As for luck you made you're own by going out in horrid but changeable weather.

Apparently the dark area of sky between the two rainbows is a phenomenon known as Alexanders Dark Band which, as Wikipedia helpfully points out, should not be confused with Alexanders Ragtime Band
