"Unintended Swim!"

It's a risky place this dog's water bowl!

This beetle wasn't in a rip, but just couldn't swim through this stuff or find a way out.




So I rescued him (her?).




Meanwhile, Toby (our Foxy Pug) was too busy 'day dreaming' to notice a beetle was having a paddle in his water bowl.




Oh No! Not another in difficulty again!




Rescued again!




Trying to dry off while negotiating a hairy forest.




Now happy outside on a Gardenia leaf.




Let's take a closer look to see if he's happy (a crop of the above photo).




"Oh, look out for that hungry spider!"




Ah, he's seen it & will stay clear of that 'hungry spider'.

What are the bugs names Ross? I am trying to learn more about them.

Ah, there is always someone that can't handle the spiders. SBS has been showing a programme called "Monster Bug Wars". It should go down well while you're eating dinner. Actually, that was our entertainment over dinner for us tonight. It's gruesome!

The bug appears to be a
Fruit-spotting Bug Amblypelta sp. adult with some info about them here & it looks like they go through some colourful changes through their life.

Oh well, I hope you liked the good bits above then.

Thanks David. You might be envious of these things, but our season isn't all wonderful. Today, although the temperature was mild, there was some wind & a fire has started in Sydney (Lane Cove National Park), but thankfully it wasn't during the near 40 degree days otherwise it could have been devastating. Hopefully they get on top of it & the showers (or possible showers) forecast for Sunday will help them. I wish for cooler weather, but I'd probably not cope with the freezing conditions & being snowed in as some of you have had over the past winters. However, I can understand your wish for your warmer seasons to return & to get back to chasing the bugs, flies, spiders & flowers or anything else in the small world that can wow us when seen up close.
