  • More Sulphur-cresteds - for Ross.

These Sulphur-crested Cockatoos were almost too friendly at a lunch stop recently. I have never seen these birds attempting to get food from table scraps before. They are quite large birds up close, and a little intimidating.

Up close on the table with us!

    And fascinated with Neil's jeans.

That's really beautiful Lyn. That's what happens when we feed them; they demand it then! We have one that is particularly bold & if we go to touch it, it goes to give us a nip & with that powerful beak, we don't persist.

Just a few more in this thread & this one too.

    Thanks Lyn.

Ross - There were about 10 in this group and all except one were just lovely.
More inquisitive than confronting, but that ONE I wouldn't trust! He kept busy shooing everyone else away and was definitely "Boss Cocky"!.
I do worry about people feeding them at wayside stops - Ibis and Pelicans are also becoming a problem.

Ha Ha. Neil was keeping a pretty close eye on him. I thought he would be fascinated with the laces, but it was the material he was interested in.
