This afternoon we took a walk along the river to inspect the progress of a new footbridge being built across the Ovens. Being Easter
we were able to ignore the AUTHORISED PERSONEL ONLY sign and I was able to shoot some definitive images. This is the northern end of the bridge.

Lets inspect the site, if anyone asks what you're doing in a prohibited area,
tell 'em you're assisting me - "... and he's from News of the World" ! Now come along ...

There are some 30 kilometres of walking and cycling paths that follow the rivers and creeks which interlace the city.

Wangaratta is a very nice rural city, extremely low crime rate, close knit community -
a lovely place to live from Autumn through Spring but uncomfortably hot through summer.

This is the southern end of the bridge where the pathway winds its way beneath River Red Gums,
home to scores of bird species and native animals along the river, not to mention the old Joe Blake.

Well, looks like this thread hasn't struck a chord, so, I'll just have to Build a Bridge and Get over it ...

I suppose that I feel really excited about the construction of this bridge because it links two of our favourite river walks and provides a short cut to the city. Photographically, it shows the bridge at a stage which once completed will be no longer possible to shoot, hence it will have an historical value.
