Thanks for the tip, Ross. Although it violates my purist approach to enticing wildlife, I'll remember to take an apple, a nail and nylon line next time I visit Benalla - rest assured, I have absolutely no intention of placing my hand in such jeopardy!
Not sure that's true in Oz, Chevvy ... new season's apples ain't cheap - do you think they have a preference for a particular variety !
YEAH ! Mark, Braeburn - crisp and pink and rosy from NZ ....

Not sure about that, Chevvy ... NZ apples carry the dreaded Fireblight disease and are often rejected by Oz.
Now, Tasmanian apples on the other hand may be more palatable to our little friend ...

How could you not know about Tassie apples when we sent shiploads of them to old Blighty during the war - Granny Smiths, Sturmers, Lady-in-the-Snow, Graventeins, Cox Orange Pippins, Democrats, and more !
If you ain't tasted a Tassie apple, then you ain't tasted an apple, Chevvy !

It ain't called the 'Apple Isle" for nothin' (besides the fact it's the shape of the island).
I really like Royal Gala apples (a cross originally from NZ), so sweet, but I'm not sure where they're grown & then we have apple orchards on the north side of Grose Valley in Bilpin (along the Bells Line of Road) & other places in NSW, including PYO.
Thankfully, there are various apples that can be picked at various times throughout Australia as seen here.

We might be at risk from the Fireblight disease coming from NZ, but they have our Brushtail Possums there in pest proportions. I shouldn't laugh, but at least they can use the furs for various things from them there.

Ross, did you miss it? Had a chuckle over Chevvy's post, Global Economies

You have two cows.
The one on the left looks very attractive
ooo! nooo! Ross and Mark WHAT do NZ'ees make with Possum fur ?
Poor little Possums ... THIS could turn me off NZ for life ...
Don't be turned off, because they are using a resource that cannot stay anyhow, just like our bunny fir here. I don't know what should be done with all the humans that have destroyed these places (bringing their cats, rats, starlings & bunnies etc. & then the dumbo's that brought the cane toad too).
Here are a couple of sites on the beautiful products made from possum fir in NZ.
BTW, we eat kangaroo mince & crocodile steaks here in Australia. Yummy.

Ross, It's we humans that are the problem, not fauna.
Get rid of humans and, in a few hundred thousand years Earth would regenerate ... hopefully without a guy called Darwin to send us down that evolutionary path again - you and I could easily wind up as primeval protoplasmic globulin in an albuminous soup - or ignominiously as dinosaur droppings, mate !

Or the mud can just wash over us & we can be a fossil to last the next million years.

I recall Croc steaks in Dallas in 1980's .... ok ... but Kango mince NO ... it may leap of the plate ...
Your welcome. Those gloves & other products look alright.
That reminds me of my (late) father in-law's stories of when they cooked turtle steaks (during the early to mid 1900's), they had to hold them down until they cooked enough to stop them jumping out of the pan. Now, they were stories.
BTW, kangaroo mince is very low in fat but a bit strong for use in spaghetti bolognaise, however makes great burgers (we can buy this in some of our super markets all the time).
