  • Catch of the Day

Back to the Black Swamp where I shot Dragonflys a few days back.
This seemingly very wet fellow was preening itself on a stump as I snuck up.
His ballet-like attitudes were quite comical as he flapped and fluttered his wings before taking off.

A great series Mark. The last one looks like it flew into a sheet of glass!

No1 is my favourite. Great pose and well isolated from the background, but the OOF shadow of the tree is enough to provide a sense of the environment. Everything about is is just right, a truly outstanding shot.

Thank you, John. Lots of OOF was necessary for separation in this shot as the backdrop was indeed a tangled mess.

Difficult light for the E-3 and too far away. Can't wait for delivery tomorrow of my E-PL3.

              Thanks Chevvy.

A very nice catch Mark. I love these & the 3rd one looking like Daffy Duck meeting with some misfortune again.

Nice images, #1 is my favourite too. Can't work out quite what the last one is doing!

                    Ross and David, thank you.
My favourite is #3 because its action is so offbeat as indeed was its behaviour.
It struck some curious poses in trying to dry its plumage.
I have no idea as to what bird it is ... surely not a cormorant this far from sea.

I'll my tick to the box for number 1 Mark, a very nice capture with good isolation.

Only a few hours away then Mark, it will be interesting to hear what you make of the kit lens performance, you ordered it with the 14-42 didn't you?
                          Regards Huw

YES Huw, but the kit lens is the 14-40mm II R ... I think this upgrade was to optimize for both still and video.

Monday, 8:45AM here ... UPS tracking schedules it for delivery by end of day.

This is the one isn't it?
I have the MK 2 also but not the R version which is essentially the same optic but has a slight different exterior finish and firmware for the faster focussing bodies.
