  • 70-300 Does Insects

Being a bit restricted regarding how far I can walk at the moment I've been taking short walks on our nature reserve and trying to improve my "macro" skills with the 70-300.
Heres a few from today's walk.

    Horse Fly

    Hover Fly

    Bumblebee

    Female Damselfly

    Thanks for looking.
    Peter

Hi Peter, glad you are getting out and about. These pictures prove you don't have to go far to get great photographs.

          My sentiments too.

          Were these cropped at all?

Excellent macro shots, especially the Horse fly. I think this is where the main strength of the 70-300 lies.

I'm impressed with number 1. If I had to guess the lens, I would never have said the 70-300!

                          Re: 70-300 Does Insects

Many thanks for all your kind comments folks, much appreciated.
I really love the 70-300 and find it very useful in all sorts of situations, as long as the light is reasonable. I had to sell my original one to fund the BIGMA ( which I wouldn't be without) but got a mint second hand one at a very good price from a forum member a while back and am still finding more things it will do.
I've been out shooting some more insects again today so may bore you with some more shots later.

                          Regards and thanks.

                              Thanks Ross.

Yes they were cropped but not massively. Here's the uncropped original. The Hoverfly is 20-25mm long in life.
