I was surveying my local reserve as part of the recording of species numbers I undertake for the local Bird Club. It was a superb day, warm and sunny with no wind but with very little bird movement, making it difficult to get accurate numbers. Then suddenly just about every bird in the marsh (several hundred) took to the air:
Curlew:

Ducks (mainly Wigeon and Gadwall):

This normally happens when either a large raptor flies over or a helicopter (aeroplanes have no such effect) so I looked up and IDd the cause:
Culprit:

Who is watching who?

Anyhow I managed to count a few birds!
