Re: The Power of Wind
Greg I like the image but I'm not keen on the colour balance which is way to yellow for my taste and I also think you should see more of the base of the rock to anchor it in the image.
As to the fringing mentioned by Andy, this could be because of down sizing but either way check my article out on fringing in the Elements Tips.
Regards Paul.
One day I hope to be the person my dogs think I am.

Thanks for the honest comments
It is a single image Andy. I lightened the stone selectively hence the fringing. I will definitely be going back to Paul's tips on fringing
I will have another blast at this and see what happens

You're not going to blast the stone to turn it around, are you?Originally posted by gregles View PostThanks for the honest comments

I still like the idea (the way it is) but agree the colour could be different.Ross "I fiddle with violins (when I'm not fiddling with a camera)". My Flickr

I will need to look for explosive effects in elements

Re: The Power of Wind
I like the idea very much but, apart from the colour and fringing, the lighter area on the hillside draws eye but, when it gets there, there is little detail or interest. What focal length was it taken at? A different angle or a wider focal length or a position further away would stop the stone bird from attempting to dominate the image but without success, the whole picture appears to be split between stone and background with no flow. Sorry to be so analytical!

Re: The Power of Wind
Hi David,
thanks for taking the time to comment
I took the shot on a dull overcast day just as the rain came on. I was away up a wee single track road and came across two stone eagle gate posts in the middle of nowhere. I tried to get something quickly to include the stone and the wind turbines behind. I think I knew all the elements of a good shot were not there hence the crazy processing

This is the raw - I was very conscious of the fence on the right.

Re: The Power of Wind
Hi Greg,
Yes I see the difficulties, the raw is interesting - it is a pity that the stone eagle isn't facing the hillside!
