Re: Strangely addictive...
Yep. That's better than any of my attempts, and I've tried this on many occasions.
Great shot..

Re: Strangely addictive...
Lovely shot. I always like a crescent moon as the terrain at the terminator gives it much more 3D.
I've never struggled to take a good photo of the moon since I read somewhere that its always a sunny day there therefore ISO 100, 1/250th at F8 give or take a stop.

Hew, that's lovely!
Looking at the angles of the shadows in the crater, is that the reason they look so deep and detailed?
I also noticed you've used ISO 800, whereas Duncan recommends ISO 100. Any thoughts?-----------

Re: Strangely addictive...
And both my 50-200 and EC20 are in for repairs. Must try this when I get them back. Hopefully I'll get sharp pictures with the EC20, it's been a disappointment, and I dont know what's wrong with it.-----------

Re: Strangely addictive...
Thanks Ed, as Duncan says there is a bit of a technique but really all it takes is a bit of practice. Watch out though it can be a bit addictiveOriginally posted by Wee man View PostGreat shot. Oh to get one like it.
Thanks Paul, yes I like to see the detail in craters where the shadow transition occurs, this one is close to a 100% crop so I think the 50-200 + EC-20 is doing well in combination with the E-5 ISOriginally posted by Woofmix View PostThat's a great shot, came out really well, plenty of crater detail too.

With regard to the crater detail I guess so. I must admit to being really quite pleased with how the 50-200 and both teleconverters work together.
I took a number of handheld shots with ISO varying from 200 to 800. I found to get best results (sharpest) I had to use a higher ISO, probably due to the fact that it was a Crescent Moon with less light for the exposure compared to a fuller Moon (just a guess). For some of my other Moon shots I was able to use a lower ISO (around 200 if I remember).
Example....this one was ISO200

Have you tried to check the focus accuracy of both on your E-5?Originally posted by Cathrine Spikkerud View PostAnd both my 50-200 and EC20 are in for repairs. Must try this when I get them back. Re: Strangely addictive...
I've never got a single sharp shot with the EC20. It seems to work only on the 50 mm macro. Neither before or after it crashed to the ground once when attached to the 50-200 and E 3. Camera and telelens were sent for repairs, but there was a halo around everything white on pictures taken before the crash as well, and nothing was sharp. I've now sent the ec20 as well. With the ec 14 attached, focus doesn't work at focal lengths below 70(x1.4), on the E5 it increases to 100. I don't know whether that's a general limitation, as when I'm using the converter it would be to increase focal lengths above 200, but during fieldwork I need to zoom in and out for versatility. Anyway I'm curious what they'll find. The 50-200 isn't pin sharp either. I've thought of replacing it, since I've tried another of the same and it was totally different. So maybe it didn't get repaired properly.-----------
