  • Eight Eyed Garbage Dweller

This cheeky spider was just innocently minding its own business sitting on the side of the garbage bin when I came & started blinding it with my flash & instead of running away, it seemed either curious or aggressive & came towards me several times until I tapped the garbage to try & get turn in a different direction & it quickly ran & hid. Taken with E30, Ex25 & Sigma 150 macro, at f16, 1st one with built in flash & AF & the rest with FL50R diffused & MF.

    Cheeky or cute?

Look, I'm an old man. I shouldn't be expected to put up with this.

        Agreed. Great pictures, but ugh!

I'm a big guy, but have always had a dislike and fear of spiders.

Of course, I had to be brave when my daughter was young and simply sweep them up in my hand and throw them out of the window, saying "See? It won't hurt you!" with my best bright and breezy look and voice. If she could have felt the fear and seen my face when I turned away, she might have grown up with a fear herself. It seems she hasn't.

        David.

Thanks for the nice replies. I'm still learning how to get the best out of this lens/camera combination. I think I will have to remember to keep the ISO low when using flash to help keep the sharpness as I tend to rush in without checking all the appropriate settings. I'll dig out my cheap twin flash (2 X FL36R) bracket & see if I can make that work OK too.
